LeveL

LeveL has already begun.

Every item sold from Bardos Thodol Works, through the store or digital token through an exchange, has a unique hex barcode attached to it. This code follows the piece of artwork much like metadata on the blockchain. These codes will exist but redirect you to this ‘LeveL’ homepage until the game is fully released. Once the game is released, each of these codes will be redeemable (most one time use) for their own unique digital tokens. The tokens contain game pieces with data in the form of mechanics, creatures, areas and characters that are generated when redeemed.

As for tokens attached to NFTs currently available, we luckily have the blockchain that permanently tracks the owners and who currently holds it. On game release, a separate game token will automatically be sent to the current holder’s wallet address. After release, future NFTs will contain the necessary data within themselves to redeem game tokens upon purchase. They can also be kept unredeemed and traded unhatched.

Game Development

I’m presently developing game mechanics. I’m chiefly focusing on world building to create something deeply engaging. Everything BTWs does will be integrated into ‘LeveL’ by default after a certain point. This is expected to take years if not decades to hit its stride, but I know something fun and genuinely enjoyable will come out of it. This game is expected to be highly collaborative. I have many ideas for the directions to take this, many of them offer certain features that I’m sure many other artists would be interested in applying to their artwork.

In respect to some of the best games that continue to hold their reputation after decades of existence…  A very large focus is put on the artwork, storytelling and the ability to evolve and customize. This is not about dopamine responses, although it’s impossible to escape the influence in the modern digital space.

If you buy something from Bardos Thodol Works at this point it’ll have one of these codes. Some people already have some, waiting like a little egg to be hatched.
